Class D6 has a four-way tie on the line. Grand Island Lutheran, High Plains Community, Mead and Sterling are all 4-3 with 39.714 points, and if the season ended today, only one of them would get the 16th spot. D6 has no district berths. The 16 highest point averages make it, and D6 teams play eight regular-season games, not nine.

Arthur County (5-2, 42.571) clinches with a win at Paxton on Thursday. It also clinches if Southwest, Sterling, McCool Junction, Wallace or Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer wins this week. Southwest (4-3, 41.857) clinches with a win over Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on Thursday.
Crawford (5-2, 40.429) vs. Hay Springs (4-3, 40.143) on Thursday decides a lot. A Crawford win clinches its spot. A Hay Springs win clinches Hay Springs a spot if Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer beats Diller-Odell or Dorchester beats Mead. Meridian (4-3, 40.571) visits Pawnee City and can't clinch on its own result.
The four-way tie
Grand Island Lutheran hosts Red Cloud (6-1) on Thursday, and a win gets it to 39.500 to 40.250. Sterling visits Lewiston (6-1), and a win gets it to 39.500 to 40.625, the best case of the four. Mead hosts Dorchester and could reach 39.125 to 40.250. High Plains Community hosts Harvard. A win gets it to 38.750 to 39.500, and a loss knocks it out if Santee beats Elba or Silver Lake beats Giltner.

How the math works
D6 uses its own divisions: above 76% is Division 1, 51% or higher is Division 2 and 26% or higher is Division 3. Wins are worth 50, 47, 44 or 41, and losses are worth 36, 33, 30 or 27. Take Crawford: 40.429 over seven games is 283 points. Beat Hay Springs and Hay Springs is 4-4 (50%, Division 3), so the win is worth 44, and 327 divided by 8 is 40.875. Lose and Hay Springs is 5-3 (63%, Division 2), so the loss is worth 33, and 316 divided by 8 is 39.500.
