HASTINGS, Neb. — The wait for Day 2 of the Nebraska state softball tournament will stretch into Friday. The NSAA suspended Thursday's remaining play because of weather, announcing a 10 a.m. CT resumption on Friday, Oct. 16.

The decision followed a rain interruption early in the afternoon games. 10/11 NOW reported that field conditions and more rain in the forecast kept the tournament from continuing Thursday.

For teams and families in Hastings, the next step is to follow the revised bracket rather than the original Thursday start times. Some games had already begun, which is why a scoreboard can still carry an early-inning score even though play is no longer active.

What changes for Friday?

The NSAA's 3:30 p.m. weather update sets Friday's resumption for 10 a.m. The updated class brackets place the winners' and elimination games on Friday and bracket finals on Saturday, Oct. 17. Later Friday starts follow a rolling schedule, so a listed “after” game is not a fixed clock time.

Check the individual class bracket before leaving for the complex. Weather can change the order and timing again, and the NSAA remains the authority for those decisions. The championship games are still listed for Monday, Oct. 19 at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln: Class C at noon, Class B at 3:30 p.m. and Class A at 7 p.m. CT.
